The Place Race 2024: Programme & Registration

Towns and cities in Ireland are rapidly changing.

This one-day conference, taking place in the Strand Hotel in Limerick will examine the challenges and opportunities that we face as professionals working in economic development, destination management, marketing, education and town and city planning and placemaking.

The conference considers some of the key challenges which Local Authorities, Regional bodies and economic developers face in place development and promotion:

  • How we effectively differentiate our towns, cities and regions
  • Ensuring the right balance in our economic ecosystem between investment, enterprise and innovation
  • The growing importance of placemaking and how it enhances place attractiveness for residents, visitors and potential investors
  • Leveraging cultural capital for place
  • Collaboration for success - the essential elements in place management
  • Ensuring legacy from major events and transformational projects

This will be a highly engaging and informative event for attendees. The programme includes plenary and panel sessions with place leaders from across Ireland and the UK.

The conference this year takes place in Limerick City which has been undergoing transformational change over the last decade.
