Introducing Vista – an innovative holistic diagnostic and ranking tool for place

Many places now recognise the value of marketing themselves as hubs to Invest, Live, Visit and Study to maximise their place potential. For Tier 1 cities, most fulfil this ambition but second tier and smaller locations, may have a better proposition in some areas than others. Understanding strengths and areas for development is critical not only for place marketing but also as part of strategic growth plans which can lack specific details in terms of ambition and the competitive context.

eutopia has developed a new ranking and diagnostic which assesses places from this holistic perspective and provides:

  • individual scores for Invest, Live, Visit and Study
  • relative ranking against towns and cities of a similar size in each of these 4 areas
  • an overall ranking for the town and city in a country context
  • benchmark scores for each of the 4 pillar areas to assess performance against average scores
  • a segmentation model which identifies types of town and city according to performance and specific related objectives.

The diagnostic model uses a wide range of verifiable data sources which are updated on a regular basis to calculate the scores. The scoring formula has been developed with a range of professional contributors who have deep expertise in each of the pillar areas and tested extensively.

Eutopia currently holds data for the UK and is in the process of developing the model for other territories including Ireland and France.
